Bound volume containing: The United Irishman, Vol. I, No.1 through Vol. I, No 16; The Irish Tribune, Vol. 1, No. 1 through Vol. I, No. 6; The Irish Felon, Vol. I, No. 1 through Vol. I, No. 5. Interspersed throughout the volume are numerous added portraits, articles and documents, such as: Portrait of Patrick O'Donohoe; 15 pp pamphlet, "The Introductory Address to The Irish Polytechnic Institute. Read at the First General Meeting." Wednesday, April 19th, 1848 by Thomas Antisell; appointment of John Savage as secretary of Irish Student's Club followed by a hand written "List of Deportations" listing the officers of the Club; Original Autograph Document setting forth the agreement between the owners of the Irish Tribune." Signed by John Savage, William Kirby Sullivan, R.D. Williams (Richard Dalton), Kevin Izod Doherty, Thomas Antisell, John De Courcey Young, S. M. McSweney, M.D., and W.J. Mylen (Walter T. Meyler?); and numerous pamphlets and cuttings all relating to the Ireland of the mid 19th century. There are also three large broadsides, folded, advertising the The Patriot of 4/15/48 and the first issue of The Irish Tribune, Ex seminary library with a stamp and acquisition number in two places. Also with the bookplate of Archbishop John J. Cantwell. Binding has been mended at the hinges and is significantly worn. There is occasional foxing to the engraved portraits. Occasional articles have been cut out of the papers, usually with notes to where they can be found.
