POTTER. BEATRIX. Illustrates. - Robert Ellis Mack and Alfred Fuller, Edit.
NISTER'S HOLIDAY ANNUAL. 1896. Containing, A Frog he would a fishing go.
Ernest Nister. London. No date. 1895. FIRST EDITION. 4to. (10.1 x 8.2 inches). Complete with 6 beautiful full colour plates and scores of line illustrations, including 9 line drawings by Beatrix Potter (initialled H B P) to illustrate the rhyme A Frog he would a fishing go. The character in the drawings bears a strong resemblance to Jeremy Fisher, later to star in his own story book in 1906. One page with a strip of archive paper repairing a tear to the outer margin, otherwise a very good copy in the publishers olive green cloth binding. The spine is lettered and decorated with a floral design in gilt, which has dulled. the front board is lettered in gilt and brown and features a nursery scene in silver, light and dark blue, pink, brown and gilt. The colours on the front board are all strong and vibrant. All edges gilt. Plain off white endpapers. The front board is a little bowed but overall this is a very good example of this scarce annual. [Attributes: First Edition]
