Thomas, George
A Tenement in Soho
London Jonathan Cape 1931. A first edition, first printing published by Jonathan Cape in 1931. A near fine book with one name to the front endpaper. In the rare and fragile wrapper which is in good condition. Chipping affecting the lettering to the spine tips. One closed tear to the bottom of the rear panel. Diary of 27 year-old invalid George Thomas (1903-1952) who suffered from progressive muscular atrophy, and who lived in a three room condemned house in Soho along with his mother and siblings who also had the same disease. Extremely poor, George felt utterly isolated until he met the woman who saved his life and married him. Exceptionally rare in the dust wrapper. [Attributes: First Edition; In Dust Jacket]
Bookseller: John Atkinson Books ABA ILAB PBFA [Harrogate, United Kingdom]
