Photo Album]: Upstate New York Family Snap Shots
New Jersey, California, New York, 1953. Oblong quarto. Measuring 13" x 10". String-tied brown leather album with stamped decorations. A collection of 368 black and white or sepia toned photographs measuring 2.75" x 2" to 5" x 7" affixed to stiff black paper, some with captions. Near fine album with near fine photographs. An extensive photo album containing a family's vacations and home life between 1920 and 1950. The album begins in Cape Vincent, New York, with many of the photos from various places around the state including Lodi, Willard and Keuka Park, as well as along Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. In 1929 they went to Glendale, California which included photos of elephant riding at the Hollywood Zoo, while a 1933 trip shows the family at the Grand Canyon. They continually returned to a camping site near a beach captioned, "The Elms," with photos of family and friends sunbathing, ladies in fashionable beach wear, enjoying water sports, fishing, and posing in costumes. The farm pictures show the numerous horses owned by the family as well as the Penn Yan Horse show on July, 4, 1941 in New York where some of the family's horses competed.
