London - Chatto & Windus. First Edition of Chaudhuri's acknowledged masterpiece. Comes complete with dustjacket in excellent condition. The Continent of Circe was a 1965 book of essays written by Indian author Nirad C. Chaudhuri. It won the Duff Cooper Prize. In this book, Chaudhuri discusses Indian society from a socio-psychological perspective. The Continent of Circe earned him the Duff Cooper Memorial Award, which was a rare honour for an Indian writer as he was the first, and still the only Indian, to be selected for the prize. Condition: The binding is tight and firm and both covers are firmly attached. There is very little wear to the extremities apart from a few very small tears to the dustjacket. There are a few tiny spots to the foredge. Internally the book is extremely clean and bright throughout with no obvious marks. Overall the book is in near fine condition, the dustjacket very good.
