London: T. M'Lean, 1839. Four Volumes. Large folio, approx 22 x 14.5 inches. Quarter bound dark purple morocco leather to spines and corners and grey/blue patterned silk cloth boards. With gilt lettering to fronts and spines. Pale yellow endpapers. Some wear to covers, spines rubbed, edges and corners heavily rubbed, some loss to bottom of spine on vol.3. Volumes 1-3 are disbound, pages and plates loose. Some tears and creases to edges of endpapers and prelims, some edges of loose plates torn and rubbed, some handling marks, plates mostly clean and bright but some do have some mild foxing. Tissue guards untidy. Lacks one Plate (Athelhampton) This is where the set came from. 4 vols. Profusely illustrated with full-page 99 out of 100 lithographic plates. Descriptions of many large and small country houses in England. With illustrative plates showing views and details. Includes Hardwick Hall, Hever Castle, Waterston and Athelhampton in Dorset, Hatfield, Hampton Court, and more. A very heavy book.
