The Rugby Football Internationals Roll of Honour
T.C. & E.C. Jack, 1919. Poignant volume detailing all the Rugby Union internationals who lost their lives during World War One. Each player given a short biography and full page portrait photograph, many in uniform. Includes some famous players such as Morkel, Gallagher, Schwarz, Mobbs, Poulton and Raphael as well as many lesser-known. A lavishly produced book and an important one, showing how the officer class was decimated by the war in the trenches. No other sport sacrificed so many of its players as Rugby. Small 4to. 237pp. Pages roughcut, slight browning to prelims, otherwise very good. This copy has been rebound in blue clothboards with the original cover motif laid down, gilt titles, new endpapers. A very good copy and very scarce. From our large stock of Rugby books and publications. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
Bookseller: Pastsport [London, United Kingdom]
