Florence presso ex officina Philippi de Giunta, 1544. Urania, sive de stellis libri quinque, 8vo, 165x 100 mm,later vellum, pubblished in Florence presso ex officina Philippi de Giunta 1514,as from colophon with devise.Blank , title page in Ink, 188 pp, internally some browning and foxing ,some worming at the edge not effecting text, but otherwise a good copy.Pontano provides a detailed description of the celestial spheres, their conjunctions and the influences they might have on the terrestrial world. Abound in references to classical mythology and ancient astronomical/astrological texts, the Urania is a poetic equivalent of the same author's prose De rebus coelestibus the title of which manifestly refers to Bonincontri's didactic poem.
