Second edition of Jonson's collected works, next to Shakespeare's folio collection, the greatest dramatic compilation of the 17th century. This edition reprints the text of the first edition of 1616, the success of which inspired a consortium of booksellers to undertake the printing of Shakespeare's folio in 1623. This copy was in the collection of W.W. Greg, author of the magisterial Bibliography of the English Printed Drama to the Restoration (1939-1959), with his ownership signature on the front free-endpaper. Greg (ownership signature to f.f.e.p. dated "Park Lodge 1926"; Jake Schwartz (handwritten bookseller description and receipt) Contemporary calf.
