First edition. 11" x 7" printed wrappers, 4 pp. The Dyea and Dawson City Transportation and Trading Co was incorporated in December, 1897 and headquartered out of Baltimore, but had offices in Philadelphia, New York, and Seattle. They recommended making their Seattle office the prospector’s headquarters for mail and other conveniences. “Mail received after departure from Seattle will be forwarded. Information of all kinds is here cheerfully furnished.” The company also said that each person would be furnished a list of the proper clothing needed in Alaska and suggested miners buy such clothing at the Seattle office. “Money can be saved by purchasing clothing in Seattle.” The front page lists the officers and directors. They promised that the president, F. Howard Griffith, would personally be in contact with every one of their customers at Dyea or Lake Lindeman. The other three pages details their outfitting and delivery services and gives an itemized breakdown of what would be included in the purchase and delivery of 1,050 pounds of provisions to Lake Lindeman from Dyea for the amount of $400! They laid out the advantages of their proposition. “You get off the boat at Dyea, deliver your personal outfit of clothing to us, and start over the pass for Lake Linderman. When you get there everything will be ready to start down the lakes and rivers for the mines.
