Cummings, E.E.
New York: The American Book Bindery, Inc, 1928. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good. The first separate publication of the 'little tree', which first appeared in XLI Poems (1925). Among Cummings' most enduring works, this touching poem describes the wonder and excitement of a young brother and sister who find a little tree on a city sidewalk and carry it home, where they adorn it with Christmas finery. All leaves are double fold (top edge uncut), with the text of the poem printed in green parallel to the spine within a green ruled border. Preceded by a silver frontispiece. Typography by S.A. Jacobs. Octavo. Original silver specked green paper-covered boards over a red cloth spine, with a printed silver paper title label on the front panel and light green endpapers. The front hinge is just starting. Some fading along the extremities of the boards; else about very good. Accompanied by the remnants of the original glassine wrapper. Firmage A8.
