Geiling to front paste-down of each volume. Vol. I contains 34 offprints dated 1917 to 1930 Vol. II contains 57 offprints dated 1931 to 1943 total 91 papers. Corners bumped light surface wear to covers offprints unmarked and very good. Topics include biochemistry physiology metabolism and pharmacology of endocrine function primarily pituitary and islet cells acid-base and electrolyte physiology comparative physiology including whales dolphins monkeys dogs frogs armadillos manatees toxicology antimalials antimicrobials. Contains bound typescript ASSAY FOR POSTERIOR PITUITARY PREPARATIONS from the US Pharmacopoeia 1940 and laid-in ink note on onion skin paper of a reference on pituitary hormone function in a 1931 journal. Co-authors include John J. Abel. EUGENE M.K. GEILING 1891 - 1971 was born in South Africaand earned his Ph.D. in physiological chemistry in 1917 from the University of Illinois. In 1921 he became a research assistant in the Department of Pharmacology at Johns Hopkins University where also received his M.D. in 1923. He later became an associate professor and began to work under Dr. John Abel who would become a close friend. Together they discovered the crystallization of insulin and the physiological effects of insulin.
