And the Unrepealed Statutes Relating to Bankruptcy. To Which is Added, The Form of the Power of Attorney, And Proof Required to Recover from the Assignees. New York: Published by Edward B. Gould, 1826. vii, 122 pp. Octavo (7-1/2" x 4-1/2"). Contemporary quarter cloth over paper boards, title printed to front board, untrimmed edges. Moderate soiling, moderate rubbing to extremities with some wear to spine ends and corners. Light toning to text, light foxing in places, early owner signatures to front board and head of title page, brief annotations in pencil to a few leaves. $750. * Only edition. The 1824 Bankrupt Act liberalized bankruptcy law in response to the rapidly expanding role of banking and industry in Britain's economy. Kennedy's book has a curious publication history. Although it is the work of an English barrister on an aspect of English bankruptcy law, an English edition does not appear in Sweet & Maxwell or the British Museum Catalogue. Also, our present copy, printed in New York, is overlooked by Cohen. OCLC locates 5 copies (Columbia Law School, Maryland State Law Library, University of Missouri Law School, University of Pennsylvania Law School, Yale Law School).
