The Films of Willard Maas
1964. Presented by the Film-makers' Cooperative, this program of films by Maas held at the Gramercy Arts Theatre was introduced by Gerard Malanga. This beautifully designed flyer has the program with quotes on verso. These four films shown were made from 1943-1958. Maas was the husband of filmmaker Marie Menken. Menken and Maas were well-known in the New York City art world from the 1940s to 1960s both for their experimental filmmaking and salons, which brought together artists, writers, filmmakers, and intellectuals. They also were largely involved with Andy Warhol's scene. Near fine condition, creased from folding. 8 ½ x 11 in. Mimeograph. Double-sided flyer
