Carroll Quigley
Tragedy and Hope: A History of the World in Our Time
The Macmillan Company, 1966. Tragedy and Hope: A History of the World in Our Time, Carroll Quigley. First edition, first printing. New York: The Macmillan Company, 1966. First printing stated on copyright page. A near fine or better copy in a very good, unclipped dust jacket. Binding is tight, sturdy and square. Appears unread, no markings. A touch of softening to the spine heel. Jacket shows a bit of edgewear, with a chip to front panel. Written by former Georgetown University Professor and mentor to Bill Clinton, the book is a multidisciplinary work of history covering from roughly 1880 to 1963. It is perhaps most notable for Carroll's assertion of the existence of an Anglo-American secret society that had considerable influence in the first half of the twentieth century.
