Burroughs, Edgar Rice
A Princess of Mars (1st printing)
A.C. McClurg & Co., Chicago. 1917. 326 numbered pages. First Edition, 1st printing. Dark brown cloth, with red titles and red illustrations. Book is tight; binding and hinges are strong. A couple of tiny dot-marks to front cover (4) and one small faint scratch. Panels are bright, attractive and nice. Previous owner's name is written faintly on the front pastedown. Old bookseller code in pencil in corner of front pastedown. Thin, most faint moisture outline along edge of front pastedown' and even lighter along edge of flyleaf; none elsewhere. All flaws are disclosed. This is a beauty. A landmark title in many ways as it is Edgar Rice Burroughs' first novel written; hence first book in the John Carter of Mars series. As fate would have it Tarzan would be published in book-form first. An incredible copy of a most important title. VG++ [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
