A fine William IV mahogany secretaire bookcase, circa 1830
The moulded cornice above a glazed pair of panel doors (glass replaced to one window) enclosing four adjustable shelves, above a secretaire drawer housing gilt-tooled leather writing desk, six mahogany drawers and three pigeon holes, above two panel doors enclosing a shelf and two deep lockable drawers with brass handles, each section flanked by carved integral columns and with working brass locks, sitting on a plinth base. A fine secretaire bookcase of rich flame mahogany measuring 2420 x 1200 x 470 mm, with a deep, warm patina and restrained decorative detail. This handsome piece of library furniture has been expertly restored and polished, is in full working order, and is of quality suitable to house the finest private library.
