London 1869-1897. 14 volumes quarto, uniform period half red morocco- containing years January 1869- December 1893 bound in 14 volumes but mysteriously without July-December in both 1889 and 1893- not bound in. Titles, text and illustrated with 1454 COLOURED PLATES of the notable, mostly men, but a few women, of the day. Minor spotting in the first couple of volumes but in very good condition. Of special note are following 47 Judges (some red robed), 27 wigged Lawyers, 14 Cricketers, 1 Fencer, 16 Jockeys, 2 Athletes, 1 Billiards, 1 Fishing, 5 Rowers, 2 Golfers, 1 Polo, 1 Tennis, 1 Boxing, 13 Hunting- (thus roughly 58 Sportsmen), PLUS 10 supplementary double page folding plates including - Judges, Racing, Yachting (At Cowes), 2 double page of Bicycling (Cycling in Hyde Park and Au Bois be Boulogne). The people of special note- amongst numerous- are Millais, Tennyson, DARWIN, Wilkie Collins, Ruskin, President Ulysses Grant, Leighton, H. M.
