McCarthy, Cormac
The Crossing: Bound Typescript Galley Volume
New York: Alfred a Knopf, 1994. First Edition. Quarto. 556 pages, the earliest typescript copy galley. Verso of the cover page shows title only as: Untitled McCarthy though the cover page shows the title as: The Crossing, a Novel to be issued in a print run of 150,000 copies. There is a general description of the marketing plans, floor displays to show 12 books for book stores along with projected audio versions. The setting is the southwest corner of New Mexico and while a vital part of the trilogy in terms of color and territory, it does not have John Grady Cole. Of course, the typescript is as close as one can get to the writing of McCarthy as he finished typing it. Later, of course, there would be various proof copies but this is the earliest version of his finished writing on the volume. Bound in printed wraps backed in cloth. A fine copy. [Attributes: First Edition]
Bookseller: Alcuin Books, ABAA-ILAB [United States]
