Chamberlain, Wilt
A View from Above [inscribed and signed]
New York: Villard, 1991. xiii, 290p., inscribed and signed by Chamberlain at endpapers, first edition, so stated and with number line from 9-2 on copyright page (in accordance with Villard / Random House convention for identifying first printings during the time period in question) slight lean to spine, hint of soiling to page edges including a tiny bit of staining to last couple pages along middle fore-edge otherwise good in quarter-cloth boards and unclipped bright dj. A great association copy, inscribed to Scott Ostler (currently sports columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle, previously with the Los Angeles Times) on the front free endpaper "To Scott Ostler Now that I'm a famous writer like you, maybe you can help us both get a job. Happy reading friend" and signed in full by Chamberlain with a postscript "P.S. I want to be the technical foul shooter for the Olympic team can you help me here? Ha Ha" Additionally, he has included a note on Virginia Slims Series stationery: "Scott, Check backs + send them back. Lookin for a trophy + a sandwich for making you all-star team. or else what's the big deal." and signed "Wilt." 1991 was about the time that Ostler was hired by the Chronicle which matches up with Wilt's joke about needing to get a job. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy]
