Printed at the Clarendon Press, by Frederick Hall, Printer to the University; -- and published by Humphrey Milford, M.A., Oxford University Press Warehouse, Amen Corner, London, E.C. 4 [1917]. A rare surviving broadside almanac and Oxford University calendar for the year 1918, measuring 80 cm x 59 cm, framed in giltwood and glass, the lithographed image measures 34 cm x 25.5 cm. The lithographed image is signed in the plate "Muirhead Bone."Sir Muirhead Bone (1876 – 1953) was a Scottish etcher and watercolorist, know for his work as a war artist in both World War I and World War II. Serving as the first official British war artist, Bone was sent to France in June 1916. Bone was knighted in 1937 and served as a trustee on the boards of the Tate, the National Gallery and the Imperial War Museum.Below the image, "The Hall of Christ Church from the South, from a drawing by Muirhead Bone," enclosed in a black border, is an eight-column calendar for 1918, giving the University Officers and Heads of College in the first column and the professors by discipline in the eighth column. The center six column (columns two to seven) are double columns and comprise the calendar for each of the twelve months of the University year.
