John le Carré
The le Carré Omnibus (Signed First) - comprising Call for the Dead & A Murder of Quality
Gollancz. First edition, first impression, signed to the title page by John le Carré; the omnibus issued in July 1964 following the success of TSWCIFTC, collecting le Carré's first two novels, Call for the Dead (1961) and A Murder of Quality (1962); scarce signed. Near Fine: firm and square binding in sharp red cloth; bright gilt; a trace of sunning to the spine and a little rubbing to the heel of the spine and bottom corners; toning and some very faint and sporadic spotting to the edge of the page block; bright, crisp and clean pages. The unclipped dustwrapper (correctly priced at 18/- net) is Very Good: bright with vivid red lettering and yellow background; toning to the spine, folds and extremities; a few short nicks to the edges; rubbing and tiny chips to the corners and spine tips; a pleasing example of a notoriously fragile wrapper; presented in a removable, archival-quality Brodart protective cover. All orders are sent very carefully wrapped in bubble wrap and sturdy cardboard. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Hard Cover; In Dust Jacket]
