The work written in defense of Charles II's 1672 Declaration of Indulgence, Langhorne "a Roman Catholic barrister of considerable eminence", later implicated in the Popish Plot, executed for treason, and beatified in 1929 by Pope Pius XI. Modern 1/4 sheep over brown boards, marbled endpapers and pastedowns, the spine gilt ruled and lettered, quite clean with good margins; the Taussig copy. Printed by H.H. for the Assigns of R. Langhorne [etc.], London, 1687.
