Sammelband containing two early medical works. I: Only German edition of Dariot's "Trois discours de la préparation des médicamens" ("De praeparatione medicamentorum", Lyons 1582). Thy physician Claude Dariot (1533-94), immatriculated at Montpellier in 1553, was the municipal doctor of Beaune and flew to Geneva in 1572 as a Huguenot. He sought to reconcile the Galenic and Paracelsian school of medical thought: "Dariot obviously felt there was a great need for a simpler text on the Paracelsian remedies; this was his goal and the purpose of his book. And, writing of his preparation for this task, Dariot referred to his long work in the search of the secrets of Hermes, Arnald of Villanova, Geber, and Lullius, as well as those of Paracelsus and his followers" (Debus, The Chemical Philosophy, p. 157).
