Churchill, Winston
The Second World War, Six Volumes
Houghton Mifflin Company, 1948. Volume One inscribed to Harry Scherman, the founder of the Book of the Month Club, on second blank page. The Gathering Storm [1948], Their Finest Hour [1949], The Grand Alliance [1950], The Hinge of Fate [1951], Closing the Ring [1952], and Triumph and Tragedy [1954]. Bound in full red leather with gilt rule bordering front and rear covers. AEG. Six panels, ruled, on spine, with 5 raised bands. Gilt lettering on spine and gilt star in four panels. Decorative pastedowns and flyleaves. NOTE: the pastedowns and flyleaves in Volume 5 differ in style from the other five volumes. Volumes 1-4 and 6 were printed at The Kingsport Press.
