In three parts as follows: Contemplating the Works of the Creator I: In the wonderful Structure of Animal Bodies, and in particular Man; II: In the no less wonderful and wise Formation of the Elements, and their various Effects upon Animal and vegetable Bodies; And III: In the most amazing Structure of the Heavens, and with all its Furniture. 8vo, 205 x 125 mm, 8 x 5 inches, 29 FOLDING PLATES, complete but misnumbered in Volume II where 2 plates have the number xiii, faintly corrected in ink to xiiii, some decorative or pictorial head- and tailpieces, Volume I: 92 pages prelims including A Summary Account of the Book and the Preface, plus 326 pages (the final page '326' is misnumbered 336) plus 12 pages listing the Contents of the Second Volume (these pages are repeated in Volume II); Volume II: 16 pages of prelims plus pages 367-734, (should be 327-734 not 367, printing error, signatures all correct and following on from Volume I); Volume III: 16 pages prelims plus pages 735-1086 (complete, signatures all correct). Books guaranteed complete. Bound in antique panelled calf rebacked in modern calf with gilt decoration and contrasting gilt lettered labels to spines, all edges stained red. Probably a mixed set as Volume I has a slightly more elaborate design to covers and is ink stamped to the first 3 leaves and top edges 'John Brown 1756' whereas Volumes II and III each have the bookplates of Earl of Roden and Dr. Timothy Go … [Click Below for Full Description]
