Alfred A. Knopf, New York, 1941. Multi-color wrappers with flaps are bright and whole showing light edge wear, rubbing, and chipping. The bottom front hinge has a clean 2" separation. Binding and text block secure. Pages umarked except for publisher's inked blue stamp ("M.P.") on the front free endpaper. This copy comes with an after-market mylar jacket and a custom clamshell box, both in pristine condition. Basis for the 1945 film for which Joan Crawford won the Best Actress oscar in the title role.
