Methuen & Co. Ltd., London, 1924. A superb copy of the First Edition, First Issue (without the ix at the bottom of the Contents Page), extremely clean, fresh and bright, inside and out. Illustrated throughout in black & white with the much loved E. H. Shepard drawings. Blue cloth covers with bright gilt lettering to the spine, gilt ruling and design to upper board, gilt design to rear board and top edge gilt. Clean and bright boards with sharp corners, a beautiful example well preserved by the dust jacket. Internally also in excellent condition, all pages clean and crisp. A touch of spotting to a couple of pages, really minor but must mention and offsetting to endpapers as seen in photos. Previous owner's name, in pencil to ffep. A touch of spotting to fore edge, not affecting pages. Original dust jacket in very good condition, with minor rubbing, age toning and a touch of foxing to panels, browning and rubbing to the spine and light chipping to the tips of the spine with minor loss. x, 99pp. 'When We Were Very Young is the first volume of rhymes written especially for children by A.
