Kinsey conducted landmark studies of male and female sexual behavior that helped usher in the "sexual revolution" of the 1960s and 1970s. In January 1948, Kinsey and his collaborators published Sexual Behavior in the Human Male. It made the best-seller list within 3 weeks, despite its 804 pages, generally dry scientific style, and ponderous weight of statistics, tables, and graphs. By mid-March, it had sold 200,000 copies.
