Ross, James
They Don't Dance Much
Houghton Mifflin Co, 1940. First edition (MD). Half white, half black cloth, red/green titles, red topstain. This novel, set in a small Southern town, has achieved a considerable reputation, having been highly touted by the likes of Raymond Chandler, Daniel Woodrell, Flannery O'Connor and others. Evidently Ross continued to write but was never able to get his subsequent work published. This novel has been published in various subsequent editions but is very scarce in the original and, out of a 2,000 printing, only several copies seem to have survived. Book very good with some light spotting to white portions of cloth, owner signature on ffep, small tear to one page at foreedge. DJ also very good with wear to folds, closed tear at top of front panel, sticker residue to front flap. 296 pp. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover; In Dust Jacket]
Bookseller: citynightsbooks [Allston, MA, U.S.A.]
