David Swanson.
Water Music. {Deluxe Edition}.
Stone Harbor, New Jersey. Meadow Run Press. 2000. Deluxe Edition. Octavo (9 x 6). 124 pp. plus colophon. Book number 30 of 36 numbered copies published. Signed by the author on the limitation page. With a color postcard signed by Truls Ronning laid-in (the author's Norwegian salmon fishing guide and friend). Black and white plates highlighting the adventures. Mr. Swanson is a fine writer and he provides an excellent account of fly fishing for Norwegian Atlantic salmon. "Then the reel screamed again, and I suggested somewhat panic-stricken to Laila that, just maybe, she should run and get Truls. Truls, running and smiling, returned with Laila, as well as with a few other fishermen pretending they were just running this way anyway. He told me to back up to a place where it could be tailed from the smaller rocks. Truls reached in with a hand like a bear's claw and wrangled the five kilo salmon from its sanctuary." This book is also a fine example of the printer's and binder's art - the paper is Mohawk Superfine, with the binding a modern variation of Coptic sewn-boards in two-tone blue and green cloth with the title in dark green on the front cover. The drop-back box has two colored maps showing the Norwegian coast on raised panels on both inside panels of the box. The box is constructed of dark blue morocco spine and blue cloth with gilt titles on the spine panel. A fine and attractive book. [Attributes: Signed Copy]
