Rebound in three-quarter calf over marbled boards with gilt ruling on covers, gilt lettering on red leather label of spine and gilt ruling; raised bands. Frontispiece engraving depicting the author by Claude Melan. Title page printed in red and black.Thorough survey of the City of London with two additional pages bound in rendered by hand: 1. Signed by previous owner John Ramsey with decorative initials underneath. 2. Previous owner's handwritten list of various buildings indicating when they are built, e.g. Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, etc. and a time table of important events in the history of the city of London underneath. Frontispiece with two and a half inch by half an inch chip at upper third of left edge with original pasted to additional leaf. Some age-toning and foxing in age-toned block. List of additional works by Howel with marking in left margin and a few stains with minimal loss of text. Binding in overall near fine, interior in good condition.
