Asimov, Isaac
The Stars, Like Dust
Doubleday, Garden City, 1951. Stated first edition with unclipped first issue jacket showing the proper price of $2.50. NF book in like jacket. Small line of residue at the foot of the front board from a removed tag; faint offsetting to the bottom of the rear pastedown. Jacket with some slight crinkling to tops of front and rear panels, and some gentle rubbing to the extremities of the spine. In all, a pleasing copy. The first part of Asimov's influential Galactic Empire series, it opens with a young man attending the University of Earth. Little does Biron Farrill suspect, he is about to be launched into a dangerous world of political espionage and potential assassination; but on receiving news that his father has been arrested and killed by the Tyranni, his narrative becomes one of survival and rebellion. At its release, a contemporary New York Times review called the novel "a rousing adventure story of the most remote future." It has since been seen as a commentary on feudalism and the U.S. Constitution. Near Fine in Near Fine dust jacket. [Attributes: First Edition; In Dust Jacket]
