Which is added a number of Hints or concise Lessons for the improvement of Youth, on all Occasions in Life... for the Use of young People. Bath : Printed by G. Robbins, for the author, and sold by J. Brockwell and Byfield, London, 1804, pp. 72, 26 woodcut illustrations. 2 works bound together, 12mo (162 × 85 mm). Contemporary sheep, sometime expertly rebacked to style. Contemporary ownership inscription to first title: 'Marianne Bishop'. First edition of System of Etiquette, and probably the fourth of Honours of the Table (first 1788): two rare conduct books published by the author in Bath and probably issued together. Trusler had been succesful as a clergyman and educational writer in London before moving to fashionable Bath and continuing his publication of tutors in etiquette and deportment. System of Etiquette is especially rare: we have not located any copy in America. Honours of the Table contains a well-known sequence of woodcuts instructing in the art of carving (sometimes attributed to John Bewick).
