"An officer in the Forest Department, Clark notes that from the 'tops of the hills, the low-country looks like a sea of primeval forest.' He provides his knowledge of hunting elephant, leopard, bear, and wild buffalo in the region, then continues with a discussion of sport after sambur, cheetal, muntjac, and other game. While the information is valuable, the posed photographic plates reveal amateurish attempts to paint game into the scenes. In addition, there is an interesting chapter on the pristine conditions of the island before big game hunters swarmed about" (Czech). Czech, Asia, p. 47 Red cloth spiner, printed paper over boards.
