[Nazi propaganda; WWII]
"Japonska Vitezna Vlajka nad Pacifikem". Czech/Nazi propaganda poster showing the proposed Japanese advance across the Pacific towards Australia
1942. Unusual large folding b&w printed Nazi poster showing the collapse of British-American power in the Pacific during 1942, the attack on Pearl Harbour, and the projected advance of Japanese power across the entire South Pacific including Australia.Map printed in red, green and black, with the red used to show Japan's projected advance, and green for oceans. The map depicts Japan with dramatic sea and air movements fanning out from the island nation shown with bright red arrows and lines, and dominated by a large Japanese flag at the upper left. Australia is shown attacked by air at Port Darwin, Cairns, and Sydney. The successful American interception of the Japanese forces at the Coral Sea is of course not yet depicted; nor as a result of that loss is the subsequent Japanese route across Papua by land to seize Port Moresby (Kokoda Trail campaign). The map is flanked along the right side and across the bottom by printed photo propaganda images, including one of the surrender by Britain of Singapore to the Japanese on Feb. 14, 1942. Text blocks in Czech.33 x 23 1/2". Period folds flattened; two very small chips at top and left edge, within printed green border. Not found in World Cat or Trove.
