Folded map backed on linen; preserved in the original cloth case, front board stamped in gilt, ugently rubbed.- Amongst the earliest maps of Chubut, one of the most southern provinces of Argentina, extending to show parts of Chile and Tierra del Fuego; maps of Chubut are rare, especially from the first half of the 20th century, the region having being mostly uninhabited until shortly before. The map shows the railroads, phone lines and telegraph, the lower portion show inset plans of: “Explotación del Petróleo Distrito Federal y Compañías Particulares - Comodoro Rivadavia”, the towns of Rawson, Trelew, Puerto Madryn, Sarmiento, Gaiman y Camarones, and the colonies of San Martín, Sarmiento y Chubut. We can only trace one copy of this map according to OCLC, at the National Library of South Africa.
