MILLER, Henry.
Tropic of Capricorn.
Paris: The Obelisk Press, 1939. Octavo. Original white and red wrappers, titles printed in black to spine and front cover, top edge rough-trimmed, others untrimmed. Small tears to spine head, a few edge-splits and light chipping along top and bottom, faint dust-soiling, front hinge starting but firm; a fresh and very good copy indeed. First edition, first issue, with "60 frs" to the spine and the yellow errata slip tipped-in as issued, variant state with the paper wrappers not having fold-over flaps. This is the prequel to Miller's first published novel, The Tropic Of Cancer. It was "originally scheduled for publication in February but delayed for three months, as a result of which few copies were sold before the beginning of the war, the death of Kahane, and the shutting down of the Obelisk Press. On these copies the original printed price on the spine and both flaps has not been inked out" (Pearson). Pearson A60. [Attributes: First Edition]
Libraire: Peter Harrington. ABA/ ILAB. [London, United Kingdom]
