Pictures of The Gone World.
The City Lights Pocket Bookshop, San Francisco, 1955. First edition / First printing. Signed on the title page by the author. Black wrappers with yellow pastedown. 27 pages. Very fine. A beautiful copy of what is one of the highlights of beat literature. This is indeed the correct first edition of Pictures of the Gone World, and the first book published by City Lights. "The Pocket Poet Series" and "number one" are printed in yellow ink on the front of the black paper wrapper. "65 cents" is printed in yellow ink on the back of the black wrapper. The title and Ferlinghetti's name are printed in black ink on the yellow paper which has been pasted over the black wrapper. Two paragraphs of information about the Pocket Poet Series and the author are printed in black ink on the back of the piece of yellow paper. There is no indication of later printing on the CIP page. It is a tight fresh copy. We have not photographed the signature on the title page, because we did not wish to pry open the book and crease the spine or cover. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Soft Cover]
Bookseller: Orpheus Books [Edmonds, WA, U.S.A.]
