London, Printed by W. S. for Simon Waterson, 1627 [i.e. 1628?]. Folio: [8], 676 [i.e. 576], 541-564, 601-624 p. (signatures A-3B; 2Y-2Z; 3E-3F); 27.5 cm. Title in border (McKerrow 224). Title continues: with some new additions. Also a supplement of a defect in the third part of this historie, by Sir W. Alexander. With additional works by Sidney. Contains: Arcadia, Certaine sonets, The defence of poesie, Astrophel and Stella. Partly in verse. "Stansby pr[inted]. prelims. and A-H; Lownes and Young the rest" --STC. "A sixth booke, to the Countesse of Pembrokes Arcadia" by Richard Bellings, originally published separately in 1624 (STC 1805), has separate title page with imprint "London, printed by H.L. and R.Y. 1628"; pagination and register are continuous. Really the 8th edition, first issue. Edited by Hugh Sanford; the prefatory 'To the reader' is signed 'H.S.' Sir William Alexander's supplement, pp. 327-346. Misnumbered pages: 80, 94, 153, 157, 158, 167, 168, 193. The first leaf, wanting from this copy, is blank. IMPERFECT: MISSING PAGES 567-624 (Astrophel and Stella), replaced with photocopies on dyed paper. From the library of Prof. Leicester Bradner, 1899-1989.
