A fine copy generally, only browned, stronger on some leaves.- An important work by Huarte, first printed in 1575; the title pages reads “Third edition”, however more likely the fifth in Spanish. Palau says of this edition “Linda edicion elzeviriana”. Huarte´s (1529 – 1588)Examenis''the first attempt to show the connection between psychology and physiology'' (Garrison-Morton); he attempts to show that men are equal, however the bodily humours occur in different proportions to each man, factors like his alimentation, nationality, education, and growing-up events. The work was translated into English -“Examendeingenios. The examination of mens wits, in which by discovering the varieties of natures”-, French, German, Latin, and Italian. His work was influential to Bacon and Cervantes. Palau, 16493.
