Volume 1 was originally published in 1811, and Volume 2 in 1814. Published by Thomas Dobson and Son, Philadelphia, 1817. The books measures 5" x 8.75", 409 and 433 pages, respectively. Illustrated with pull-out chart on page 288 of Volume 2. Pieces of ephemera about the author laid-in. Full bound in its original calf. The leather has been treated with a conditioner by a professional bookbinder to restore and preserve them for years to come. The books are in good antiquarian condition. Wear and leather loss to the boards and especially at the spines, with scuffed edges. Previous owner's writing in ink on the boards of Volume 1. Previous owner's notations and writing on the endsheets and leaves, with ink signature on the title pages. Corner of paper loss to the front leaf of Volume 2. Discolored stain to the fore-edges with moisture stains to the rear paste-downs. The front hinge of Volume 1 is cracked. The textblocks are toned, largely clean, and unmarked, save two "x" marks on pages 243 and 321 of Volume 1. The bindings are sound. These are the first American textbooks on the subject of Anatomy.
