Du Moulin en habit de Paysan Dansant a L'Opera. Engraving by Jean Mariette after Jean Berain the elder (1638-1711).
Paris: I. Mariette, ca. 1700. 332 x 196 mm. Printed on laid paper. Slightly spotted; trimmed to within platemark; lower edge unevenly trimmed; paper tape repair to edges of verso. NYPL (a copy in reverse, printed in Augsburg, ca. 1700). Five Centuries of Ballet 1575-1944 Loan Exhibition devoted to the Dance, Wildenstein Gallery, New York, 1944, plate 68. Victoria and Albert Museum Spotlight: Four Centuries of Ballet Costume, 49. Verdak: Eras of the Dance, 16. One of the earliest "souvenir" prints of the ballet. Henri Dumoulin (1695-1730) was a dancer at the Paris Opéra.
