Charles Edwards, (b. 1628 - d. in or after 1691), was a Welsh-language writer and preacher, a major figure of Welsh puritan literary history -DNB. Y ffydd ddi-ffuant, sef, Hanes y ffydd Gristianogol, a'i rhinwedd. . . became a classic of Welsh prose. . . a brief unbalanced History of the Unfeigned Faith in the world, and in England particularly, quarried from the Bible, from Foxe, and from other sixteenth- and seventeenth-century English authors. . . Although it is a book composed in stages, the third edition of Y ffydd ddi-ffuant has the unity of the scripture's historical imagination. It is Edwards's definition of this as it pertains to Wales and the individual Welshman, expressed in vivid, spectacular style, that makes the book a classic -DNB. Condition: In a full calf binding. Externally, slightly rubbed, with a small label to the spine. The hinges are strained. Internally, generally firmly bound, with scattered foxing and a few marks. The title page isworking loose. With an ink stamp and ink inscription to the front free-endpaper, and a small ink 1867 to the front pastedown. Overall: GOOD..
