Connecticut / North Carolina / East Coast, 1920. Softcover. Very Good. Oblong quarto measuring 10" x 7.5". String-tied, brown paper wrappers. Contains 74 black and white gelatin silver or sepia toned photographs measuring between 2" x 1.5" and 5" x 3.5" with captions and glassine wrappers between each page. Some chips and edgewear thus a very good album with fine photographs. A family photo album from the 1920s mostly centered around the New England region of the United States with some Southern areas mixed in. The photographs feature pictures of the family traveling to locations around the Atlantic coast like Wesleyan in Connecticut and Seawell, North Carolina. There are several pictures of beaches as well as pine plantations, limestone quarries, churches, farms with cattle, and boiling houses for sugar cane. There are also pictures of homes and people riding in horse driven carriages. Most of the photographs are of the young children in the family. Some of the photos have captions of the children's names like "Iol," "Teddy," "Buddy," and "Violet". The pictures of the children usually are posed shots of them in groups or single shots of the children in formal attire. Several shots are of "Jessie" dancing and posing. There are a few photos of the older adults; one of which is captioned "Dink Ripley". Most of the adult photos are more serious but a few catch passing smiles. There is also an article from a newspaper clipping that expresses the writer's concern for Prohibition, "Why they would cut almost harmless beer off with three months' notice and give alcoholic liquor … [Click Below for Full Description]
