[ii]+xx+234, 46 hand coloured plates; med. 8vo; nineteenth century half calf, spine decorated in gilt & blind and with gilt lettered maroon leather title label, brown cloth boards, slightly soiled, edges worn, the upper joint starting; speckled edges; hinges starting, a little light foxing and soiling; Willis and Sotheran, London, 1856. *From the collection of Australian botanist James Hamlyn Willis (1910-1995), with his library stamp on the upper free endpaper and title page, and a letter to him (annotated and initialled by Willis in 1990) tipped-in before the upper free endpaper. Bookseller, author and publisher William Wood (1774-1857) was a fellow of both the Linnean Society and the Royal Society. Sylvanus Charles Thorp Hanley (1819-1899) was a leading authority on bivalves.
