LORD, Israel P.
Scrapbook]: Architect's Scrapbook Filled with Furniture Photographs and Cutouts
[Boston, Massachusetts], 1920. Quarto measuring 10" x 7.5". Three quarter black leather with marbled paper boards and a plate on the spine, "Furniture". 158pp. A photo album filled with furniture photographs from postcards, newspapers, and magazine clippings. The spine has been taped with edgewear and marks on the boards, very good. An entire scrapbook filled with magazine and newspaper clippings affixed and laid into the album depicting different images of ornate furniture with unique and lavish designs. The scrapbook was collected together by Israel P. Lord, an architect in Boston, Massachusetts. The pictures range from chairs, to bed frames, cabinets, doors, and tables presumably to be used in determining what furniture would look best with Lord's designs. Lord worked on several major projects during his career with G. Henri Desmond, forming the firm Desmond & Lord in 1916. The firm designed commercial and public buildings including the Parker House Hotel and the Suffolk County Courthouse in Maine. One of the more notable architectural designs was for the Massachusetts University campus. An interesting scrapbook of unique furniture photographs collected by an architect from Massachusetts.
