Photo Album): Couples Gypsy Motorcycle Tour Travel Photo Album
Massachusetts, Connecticut, North Carolina, and New Hampshire: 1920. Oblong quarto measuring 11" x 7". String tied, black leather flexible boards with gilt decorations. Contains 180 silver gelatin black and white or sepia toned photographs measuring between 3" x 2" and 5" x 4" with captions. Fine with fine photographs. A couples photo album during their adventures on the "Gypsie" (sic) Motorcycle Tour through Massachusetts, Connecticut, North Carolina, and New Hampshire in the 1920s. The couple, John Brack and his wife, are photographed with their friends during the tour riding their Harley Davidson motorcycle. The photographs are mostly taken by Brack's wife of the different groups of motorcyclists. The pictures show both the riders and their bikes, most of which are Harley Davidsons. During the tour the couple visited Hamden, Ware, Ludlow, Worcester, Thorndike, and other towns along the way often seen fishing or relaxing with their beagle, Buster. Several pictures are taken around lakes and are aesthetically pleasing. Some of the photographs are of Rockingham Speedway and show other riders racing around or riding down large mountains with crowds to cheer them on. Gypsy tours were groups of motorcyclists from all over the country traveling long distances, often camping the night and continuing travel the next morning until they made it to their destination. Later parts of the album show the couple's home town life with Brack playing on a baseball team called the "White Eagles".
