Printed for J. Almon, London, 1777. First edition. Octavo. 8½x5½ inches. Pp. 280, [3, index]. Printed in double columns. Contemporary three-quarter calf, marbled sides. Lacking one leaf (pp. 131-132). Bookplate. Corners worn, spine perished. Some scattered foxing, but a clean copy. The dated engraved bookplate is from "Woburn Abbey, 1873." Almon, a British publisher, was the primary source for British publications concerning American political and military affairs throughout the American Revolution. "Usually cited as 'Prior Documents', from its running title, these papers were intended to accompany the seventeen volumes of 'The Remembrancer' " (Howes).
