Colour chromolithograph covers, black and white illustrations, photographs, diagrams, and advertisements throughout. Some light rubbing to spine, an excellent copy. First edition, first printing. A rare and profusely illustrated Edwardian seed catalogue, this edition presents the stock of C. C. Morse & Company which was founded by Charles Copeland Morse, the "American Seed King". The company were particularly renowned for their "Sweet Pea Workshop", which developed new varieties for sale each season. Their three newest creations, the "Ethel Roosevelt", "Marie Corelli", and "W. T. Hutchins", are illustrated in vivid colour on the rear cover. Morse chose the popular Stecher Lithographic Company for their catalogue illustrations; Stecher had previously worked with local nurseries and botanical illustrators such as Alois Lunzer. Charles's son Lester would guide the company into a merger with another seed business, D. M. Ferry Co., in 1930, thus becoming the world's leading flower and vegetable seed producer.
